ENTERTAINMENT AT WHATAWHATA.
The Whatawhata Amateur Variety Company gave another of their popular performances in our hall on Friday evening. The pieces played were the "Stage Struck Yankee," and the "Biter Bit." The hall was well filled, and those present enjoyed themselves, for the acting and singing were excellent throughout. Without wishing to particularise, there is no doubt that Miss L. Richards and Messrs {Salmon and W. Shepherd appeared to great advantage in the "Stage Struck Yankee," and in the " Biter Bit" Mr R. Cowderoy as Sir F. Ashmore, Avas warmly applauded. During the intervals several songs were well rendered, Mrs Iwerson playing the accompaniments. At the conclusion of the performance, which was a little late in commencing, the playgoers proper retired, leaving the lovers of dancing to make a night of it. — (Correspondent.)
