The Feast.
After Another considerable interval the native women brought out a feast consisting of potatoes and pork, and laid it before the visitors. It was ceremoniously given away by the chief, Ratima, who said it was a gift of food from the chiefs of the Maori people, presented to the Government through Mr Bryce. Mr Bryce having received the present, returned it to the Maori people. Mr Bryce, Messrs Butler and Wilkinson and Tawhiao feasted out of one kit, and after bidding Tawhiao and his people good day, the visitors departed. Mr Bryco proceeded to Te Awamutuin company wit)) his private secretary and Mr Wilkinson in the evening, and stayed at the Commercial Hotel for the night They proceeded to Hamilton on Sunday.
