The Khedive at Oairo. — Baker Pasha to Re-organise the Egyptian Army. . Alexandria, September 23. The Kheilive, accompanied by his Ministers anil Sir E. B. M.illet, British Consul-General, arrived at Cairo to-day. The city was brilliautly decorated and illuminated to-night in honor of British success in Egypt. It has transpired that the Khedive, with the approval of England, has invited Baker Pasha to undertake the work of re-organising the Egyptian army. The task has been accepted by Colonel Baker.
Mr W. A. Richardson, commission agent, Cambridge, advertises propcity for sale. James Wylic notifies that he will not be responsible for any debts contracted by his wife, Catherine Wylic. Mr James Stuart, music-seller, commission and general agent, Duke-street, Cambridge, notifies that he has music for sale at Auckland prirci, Pianos and harmoniums tuned, and balls, parties, Sec, supplied with music. Lessons given on various instruments! Mr G. A. Laidlaw, butcher, Te Awamutu, notifies that he is prepared to deliver meat in all parts of the district. He is a. cash purchaser of fat stock, hides, sheepskins and tallow. Ovkb eighty years ago Lord Cornwallis wrote : 'The life of a Lord-Lieuten- , ant of Ireland comes nearest to my idea of perfect misery.' The Catholic Bishop of London, Ontario, in Canada, and the Rev. Father Killrov, have purchased four townships in Manitoba, 390 miles west of Winnipeg ; .the Archbishop of St. Boniface, Dr Tache, and Archbishop Lynch of Toronto, have . bought eight townships at Fort Edmonton,' 700 miles' west of Winnipeg. These tracts are iutended for Catholic settlements.
