- HAWERA, Last Night. Mr Bryce passed through on his ,way to Opunake to-day, He returns here on Saturday en route for Napier, where he is to meet Mr Rolleston. He then returns to this coast en route for Auckland. He will reach Auckland in about three weeks. The Piliama sections unsold at the Government land sales have all moved off at upset price, £10 per acre section. The weather hero lately has been very rough. The hail storms and electrical disturbances have been unusually severe. PORT ALBERT, Last Night. Some timber trucks at Brownes buah, Tauhoa, ran off the line yesterday, and two men were injured severely. No doctor was obtainable in the district. TAURANGA, Last Night. Kellys estate may cause trouble, a considerable quantity of property having, it is alleged, been removed. Mrs McLoughlan, wife of a well-known publicau, died last night. This makes the sixth death during the month. NAPIER, Last Night. The entries for the Agricultural and Pastoral Show on Thursday week, are not quite so numerous as last year. They number 94 horses, 55 cattle, and 17 sheep. WANGANUI, Last Night. An influential meeting of Catholics waa held last night to further the interests of of the Colonial Land Endowument Association having for its object the procuring of land for Catholic settlement and endownmentjfor schools. The society are taking steps to secure laige blocks of land uudcr offer on favorable terms. An unanimous resolution was passed in favor of the scheme, and all present applied for shares. Au energetic canvass is being made throughout the district, and a representative of the association proceeds to Auckland and Northern disricts.
