The Stud Company, AttcktiANd, Lust Night. A telegram from Lyttolton announces that 17 of the maves purchased by the Auckland Stud Company from Mr Stead, left for Auckland by the Hawea yesterday. The H.iwea is expected to arrive at the Manakau on Monday morning. The other three mares, the balance of the purchases, will be sent up as soon as they have dropped their foals. The English Mail. The steamship Australia sailed from San Francisco on Sunday, 24th inst., one day after time-table date. She may be expected on Sunday, 15th October. The Burglar Marsh. Marsh, who was arrested when breaking into the house of the Rev. Mr Carter, was committed for trial to-day, on seven distinct charges of burglary. Supreme Court. The circuit sittings of the Supremo Court will be opened on Monday. So far there is every promise of a light calendar and a speedy despatch of business. Only eighteen prisoners await trial. There are no capital offences upon the list. The most serious charges are bigamy, two cases ; unlawfully wounding, two cases; of perjury and burglary, one case each. The list of civil cases is also small. The committal of Marsh this afternoon makes two burglary cases.
All cattle trespassing at Woodlands, Hamilton road, will bo impounded. Mr E. H. Shoard who is leaving the employment of Houghton and Sons, Cambridge, is open for an engagement. The annual general meeting of the Cambridge Cricket Club will be held at the Duke of Cambridge Hotel, on Saturday next, at 8 p.m. Mr R. Kay, Rangiaohia, advertises a bay gelding- running on his farm. A service of song, "The Fight of Faith," will be given in the Hamilton Wesleyan Church on Tuesday, October 3rd. Mr A. A. Fantham invites tenders up to Monday next for the lease of the paddocks known as the Cambridge racecourse. Special attention is directed to the interesting , announcement of Messrs Scott and Cox", storekeepers, Hampton West. The price list is worthy of inspection. Messrs Lewis and Simpson, merchants, Cambridge, direct special attention to their new importations. Messrs Qualtrough and White, and Messrs Beauchamp Bros., butchers, Hamilton, publish in another colunm a price list of meat, &c. Mr John Knox will sell at the Hamilton Auction Mart on Saturday, a choice assortment of furniture, &c, &c. Messrs W. J. Hunter and Co.. will sell at the JvTgaruawahia yards to-day, wellrbred steers and mixed cattle. On Saturday tttey will sell at Cambridge well-bred riding and light harness colts. On October sth, at Ohaupo, they will offer for sale well-bred steers, yearlings, dairy cows, &c, &c. ' Mr J. S. Buckland will - sell at" the Cambridge yards on next fat cattle, steers, dairy cows, fat and store sheep, &c. On Saturday, the 7th October, he will' sell at the National Hotel, Cambridge, heavy draught horses and colts, Sec, ,&c, the property, of ~Mr Newman Buttlo. ' Also, icction of latfd, bacon, and bam*.' On -Tuesday, ,10th October,' tfe Vill sell at Ohaupo 300 hesad mixed cattle , fa. sheep, &c, &c.
