Rifle Match.

The usual quarterly meeting of the Raglan Rifle Club was held at the Raglan range on the 23rd insti' The prizes *t the firing were won by F, Savage, A. Savage, ■ and Charles Gilmour, respectively. There was adecided impr6vement ; in the scores made at the shooting, although the weather was auything,bitt_ favourable, for the purpose. . , ( At a general meeting of the members of the club held on the conclusion ef the firing in Mr Gilmour's store, the presi-. deut informed the meeting that he had received a communication from Major Withers, as officer commanding the Volunteers in the Auckland and* Thames districts, asking for information relative to the distribution of new rifles amongst the members of the club, and from its nature he was led to believe that there was now almost a sure probability that they would soon have new arms issued to them. This announcement was received with, marked demonstrations of approval. It was also decided that the club should give a ball on the 26th , December next, in the Court-house, Raglan, and Messrs C. Gilmour, D. Burns, C. Moon, F. Savage and A. Savage were appointed a. committee to make all the necessary arrangements. There is a proposal on foot amongst the members of the club to have a new range laid out in a more favourable position than the present one. From what I have seen of the one now used, I am of opinion that this will not be very hard to find. — (Owu Correspondent.)
