CLEMENTS: THE CAMBRIDGE TOWN BOARD. TO THE EDITOR.

Sir, — Wall you kindly insert the enclosed letter re a local iv your issue of the. : sth inst. Iv that local there is referred to an implied threat to remove Mr Rose's I house. Whether that threat is intended to coerce Mr Rose, Mr Clements or Judge ' Macdonald, I know not, but I iknow the ] pronmlgator of that threat had not a very exalted opinion of the duties of a j town board. It is no part ot the duties of a public body to persecute any private individual. And our board is not foolish enough to waste the public taxes iv revenging a supposed wrong, or, if they should go so far, forget their duties to the public, as to enter into an expensive law-suit with the money of the public, without consulting the owuers of that money, then the sooner they are out of office the better for the public. — I am, &c. s Ratepayer.
