Speaking at a banquet given in his honour last evening, Sir Henry Parkes strongly advocated the federation of the Australian colonies, or at all events the union of Victoria and New South Wales. Ho stated that his travels had confirmed his conviction of the future prosperity of Australia. The Legislative Council has consented to a conference with the Assembly on the question of the Licenses Qualifying Bill, which was recently rejected in the Lower House.

Brisbane, August 14. In the Legislative Assembly to-night, the hon. Thos. Mcllwraith, Premier and Colonial Treasurer, made his financial statement. He estimated the revenue for the current year at £2,180,000, and the expenditure at £2,069,900.
