A bookmaker named Arthur Frederick Brooke was robbed last week of a sum of £237, under peculiar circumstances. At the corner of Little Lonsdale street he was seized with a fit and fell down, and he remembered a nothing further until he found himself in the Melbourne Hospital, to which place he had been taken by a constable. On coining to his senses he inquired for his money, but every penny of it had been taken. The total number of horses up to"J|the present time left in the Melbourne Cup is 108.
