CORRESPONDENCE.
THE SPARROW NUISANCE. TO THE EDITOR, Sir, —Seeding time having come round again, it would be an act of charity if you, or any ot your readers, could give us some information as to the best means for destroying the sparrows and larks — particularly the latter, as being the most destructive, and the most difficult to poisou. This poisoning process seems so uncertain. At one time it succeeds, and at another, although all seems to be prepared in the same manner, it fails. Large quantities of poison are used each season, with but little result. If any who have bean successful would describe minutely their mode of procedure, it might help to abate the plague. Whether it is better to use strychnine or any of the preparations sold for the purpose. If the former, the best way to dissolve it so as not to make the grain distasteful to the birds. - Some say it is of no use for individual farmers to lay poison if others do not; but it is surely wise for every man who grows grain to try to protect his own, whether his neighbours do or not. If you can assist by publishing information on.the subject you will be a benefactor. — I am; f &c, "-^, A.Farmer. . flKa'hgiaohiaj June 21st.
