S. ANDREW'S, CAMBRIDGE. Church Workers' Association,

A meeting of the parishoners of S. Andrews was held in the school-room on Tuesday evening last for the purpose of forming a Church Workers' Association, the Rev. W. N. cle Willis presiding. Notwithstanding the exceedingly wet evening, a large number of people assembled in the school-room, which showed how large au attendance there would have been had the weather proved favourable. The President, in opening the proceedings, stated that he had been induced to call the present meeting, as he felt is would be of great advantage to those who were in any way engaged in or weie going to untlcitake church work, to form a properly organised body ; and he hoped that all members of the church in S. Andrew's parish would belong to the association. Similar associations had been formed and woiked with the happiest lesults in Egland, and also in various paiishes in New Zealand. The prospectus of the association was read, setting forth the objects for which it was to be formed, amongst others being visiting the sick, acting as vestrymen, assisting in the choir or Sunday-school, promoting reverence in the public worship of God, and finding out cases of poverty or distress in the parish and reporting them to the incumbent. A 101 l was laid on the table which all those who wished to become members of the association were invited to sign, and it was gratifying to observe that nearly evei'yone piesent readily responded to the in- \ itation. A number of resolutions were passed, forming the association, regulating its management, and approving of the social gathering which is to be held in the Public Hall on Tuesday evening next. It was also resolved to form a ringers' guild, and Mr Garland engaged to look up members and assist m every way possible in carrying out this object. A committee of management was elected, consisting of Messrs Hewitt, Moore, Sanders, Peek. Hyatt, Ourrie, and Dyer, the two chinch wardens being ex officio members, and the incumbent the chairman. A vote of thanks to the president ended what was in every way a most satisfacfaotory meeting, and we have every hope that the association just formed will prove to be of great advantage both to the incumbent in carrying out the work of his large and rapidly increasing parish, and to the parishioners in bringing them more often in contact with one another, and letting them see how good and pleasant a thing it is to live together in unity. — [Communicated.
