TE AWAMUTU CHEESE AND BACON FACTORY COMPANY.

On Wednesday last the directors, accompanied by Mi 1 Walpole, the manager, proceeded to inspect the various sites offered for a factory. There were four submitted, and the manager having reported strongly in favour of that belonging to Mr R. Alexander, it was decided at a meeting of the directors in the evening to accept it. The land selected consists of 40 acres, and is situated at the junction of the Rangiaohia and Ohanpo Roads, near the bridge at To Awamutu. The necessary water supply will be obtained from wells, as the creek water is found to be unsuitable. The price to be paid for the land is £12 per acre. The directors also adopted the plans for the factory building submitted by Mr Walpole, and decided to entrust Mr Mandeno with the work of drawing out the specifications and making an estimate ol the cost, as a preliminary to calling for tenders for the work. The specifications, &c, will be submitted at a meeting of directors to be held this clay week. The company is receiving considerable support. Up ito the present very nearly 1000 shares have been applied for, and the prospectuses were only issued a few days ago. It is expected that the buildings will be ready in a couple of months time, and the plant will airive fiom America soon enough to admit of operations commencing at the begining of spring.
