The usual monthly meeting of the above body was held at the Council Chambers, Hamilton E.ist, on Thursday last. There were present : Crs. Steele (chairman), Ralph, Graham, Hewitt, and Primrose. The usual preliminary business having been disposed of, Cr. Primrose moved that leave of absence be granted to Cr. Runciman for three months which was agreed to.' JYlrßirsa made application to have a road closed in the Taupiii district. The application was acceded to, and the clerk was, instructed to take proceedings accordingly. The accounts for the year ending 31st March were submitted and approved of. A tender fiom Mr Robt. Muir for the construction of a bridge at Smith's Creek, Waiiangi, for £42 5s was accepted. Cr. Ralph was authorised to complete the contract, and supervise the construction of the bridge. Accounts. Accounts amounting to about £oQ were passed and oideved to bo paid. On the application of Cr. Hewitt the sum of £150 was paid to the Cambridge Town Board on account of the Karapiro bridge work. It was agreed to pay the sub-registrars of dogs 20 per cent, on all dogs the property of Maoris. The local Government questions submitted by the Government for the consideration oh local bodies were brought forward, and general acquiescence was expressed. The chairmau was authorised to answer the same in accordance with the approval of the council. This was all the business.
