THE NEW COLONIAL BANK AT CAM ABRIDGE.
Nothing is more indicative of the prosperity of a township than the develop-, ment of its building trade, and this being taken 'for -granted, the progress ~ T 6f Cambridge within the past few years, has been very marked indeed. The latest addition to the many commodious business houses of the place is the new bank which bears the title over "this article. The new bank is situate at the corner of Alpha and Victoria-streets, and is an ornament to the quarter of the town in which it is located. The building consists of nine different apartments, seven of which are set apart for domestic purposes, the remaining two being devoted to the business of the bank. Au ornamental portico leads into the banking" room which measures 14 x 20ft. This apartment is fitted up on a very comfortable principle, there being every necessary accomodation. The manager's private room, which opens to the left, is very neatly fitted- np. At the back is the drawing-room, the dining-room, and a bed-room for family accomodation, ali well finished and well lighted apartments. The rooms down stairs consi&t of kitchen, servant's room, two bed-rooms and a bath-room. The private entrance opens into Alpha-street, and a row of white paling extends along this side of the building. The timber itsed in the entire construction of the building is kauri. Mr Mahoney was the architect, and Messrs ■ Keys Bros, of Auckland, were the contractors, and their work has been very creditably executed. The entire cost of the building is something over £1200.
