RESIDENT MA GISTRAT E'S COURT, HAMILTON. Yesterday. — (Before Mr H. W. Northcroft, R.M.)
Profane Language. George Browx, for being drunk and disorderly in a public place, was fined 5s and costs (7s), or in default 4S hours' imprisonment. The same defendant was also charged with making use of profane language. Fined 20s and costs (9s), or in default one month's imprisonment.
The Licensing Act. A. Browning was charged, under the Licensing Act, 1881, with wasting and expending his estate. Evidence having been adduced, the Court ordered that the publicans of Hamiltoiij Frankton and Tamahere be warned not to supply him with intoxicating liquors.
Civil Side. J. McPherson (collector of rates for the Raugiriri outlying district) v. Ratima. — Claim, for rates and arrears, £11 10s. Judgment for £4 12s and costs (£1 Is 6d). Same v. Cooper. — Claim £1. Adjourned till next Court day. Same v. Wiremu Te Wheoro. — Claim £15 0s 6cl. Adjourned till next Court day. COATES AND SMALL Y. Gr. BROWN. — Claim £5 6s 3d. Ordered to pay £1 per month and costs (£l 9s), or in default one month's imprisonment. A. Connolly v. W. Hotama. — Claim £1 0s 6d. Judgment for amount and costs (1 2s). A. 0. Field v. W. Cumming.— Claim £20, under an arbitration award. Judgment deferred. W. A. Clark v. W. Cumming.— Claim £12 4s 9d, for wages. Judgment for amount claimed and costs (£2 10s). Leave to appeal on a point of law was granted in this case. LeQuesne v. J. Noolan.— Judgment for amount and costs. S. Pascoe v. James Winter.— Claim £5 14s Bd. Adjourned till next Court day, with costs^ (3ls), for fresh particulars* the same to be served 48 hours before next hearing. LeQuesne v. W. Hotama.— Claim £2 2s 6d.
