Irish Affairs.— Resignation of Mr Forster. London, May 2. In tbe House of Lords to-day, at the opening of the sitting,' Earl GranVille announced that the hon. W. E. Forster had resigned his position in the Cabinet as Chief Secretary for Ireland. The noble earl proceeded to state that the Government did not intend to initiate any new liish policy, but added that the Irish membeis of Parliament who were now in custody in Ireland, would be released forthwith, while the question of the release of the other suspects would be considered without delay. Lord Grauville concluded by stating that the Government did not intend to continue the coercion measures- for the suppression of disorder in Ireland in their present form.
Dismissal of the Grand Vizier. Constantinople, May 1. Said Pasha Grand Vizier, President of the Council Ministers has been dismissed by the Sultan. It has transpired that Abdmisman Pasha has been summoned by the Sultan as Grand Vizier. Melboubnk, May 1. The premises in Swanston-street occupied by Mr Nimbs as a shop and residence, have been placed in quarantine by the Health Officers, as it is believed that Mrs Nimbs is suffering from small-pox. Con siderable excitement has been caused by a reported fresh outbreak of variola. A caucas of the constitutionalists was held yesterday, at which it was decided to support the Government against Mr Berry's no-confidence motion. The Ministers now expect a majority of 15. Intelligence is to hand that the barque, Garstang, 300 tons, lias become a total wreck at Aznoy, China, and that the officers and crew have been' saved.
