''Defended Cases. Waikato County Council v Ratima TEWiiAKAETEr — Claim £4 Is for rates due on lands in llangiriri outlying district. Mi- Hay for plaintiffs, and Mr O'Neill for the defendant. Mr O'Neill raised an objection that the collector had not been legally appointed, the minute notifying his appointment not havingbeensigned by two members of the council. The Bench held the objection fatal, and non-suited the plaintiffs with costs. Same v. Same.— Claim £11 10s. Mr O'Neill, for defendant/ objected that the j claim had been split. He also submitted ! that the particulars were not explicit enough. The case was adjourned till , next court day for better particulars. j Same v. Wiremu Te Wheobo.— Claim £15 0s 6d, for rates due on 66 allotments in township of Rangiriri. Mr O'Neill for defendant, contended that the numbers of allotments should be given. Mr Hay, for plaintiffs, said th 6 numbers'were not necessary, and cited instances in support. He pointed out that the rate-book was a copy of the ratepayer's roll to which no objection had been taken. The Bench said they would adjourn the case without costs, so that the R. M. could adjudicate upon it.
