Tm: following particulars are furnished by a correspondent of our Auckland morning contenipoiary :—: — Since the appointment of Mr Gribblc as manager of the Martha he has employed a large number of hands, and work is being pushed on in all the levels. In the upper woi kings, where the trial crushing came ftoni, the diivc is being continued on the reef, and the whole of the quartz is being sent to the mill, and, from the prospects, I don't think it will need saving to make it a payable crushing. Fiom this level a winze will be put down to connect with the intermediate level, which is being opened out at the crosscut. Tliib diive is being timbered and enlarged, and a tram ib being laid down. The reef has been cut thiough in this level, and shoM s several yards of oiushing dirt. A winze from this level will connect with the batteiy le\el, whirh is now being pushed through the reef on the boundaiy of the Young Colonial ground. From this level good stone is being taken, which shows that the gold goes down some distance, as this level is 103 feet below the upper workings, nol bad backs on a 25 feet reef. In the Young Colonial, the drive has beeu cleaned out and a start made to drive on the footwall of the reef, from which some good stone is at present coming. The main level will also be pushed on with, to teat the upper part of the Young Colonial ground, as there is an opinion that another laige reef is to be found in the upper portion of the claim. The piescnt arrangements aie, to take out a large crushing by the time their mill is ready. In the Rosemont the main level has intersected several leaders giving^ good prospects. Donnelly and party, in the same part of the field, are meeting with fair piospecth,
