TE ARO HA PUNT.
TO THE EDITOR. Sir, — "By inserting this letter you will do an act of justice to the settlers and inhabitants of Te Avohn. The grievance 1 wish to point out is the present position of the punt. As situated now, it is most inconvenient, being a considerable distance away from the business part of the township, entailing a long journey on a bad road, on both sides of the river, for anyone wanting to cross. Not only that, but when the river rises the punt cannot work on account of the low banks, a thing which happened last Sunday night, when a gentleman, after riding a long journey, was informed that he could not cross, and was put to the trouble of riding a long distance up the river bank and getting over at the old ferry. The old crossing is a far more suitable place, being right in the township, and at a place where the river is much narrower. Hoping you will be kind enough to publish this.— l am, etc., Observer. Te Aroha, loth April, 1882.
