A GRIEVANCE.
TO TUB EDITOR. Sik, —l should like to draw your attention to "the unsatisfactory way in which Government officials pay public moneys away —especially with reference to this place. There is a road or track getting formed by the Government commencing from the west bank of Waikato river, opposite this place, and going in a direction towards the West Coast. It is in charge, I believe, of Mr Blythe, Government survey, and who it appears allows liiS" foreman of works to issue an order, or orders, on a certain store for payment of wages as they may become due, which amounts to being compelled to take amount of order out in stores, etc , to the exclusion of other business people. Why not pay those persons who earn their wages either by cheque or cash, so that they can have the option of dealing where they like. The great bulk of those employed on the work are natives, and they complain bitterly about being compelled to take orders as above stated. —l am, &c. Fair Play. Huntly, April 14th.
