RAILWAY CHARGES ON AGRICULTURAL SEEDS.

TO THE EDITOR. Sib, —On Friday last I received a sack of vetches for seed, weighing 2 cwt. 1 qv; the charge from Auckland to Ngaruawahia was 5s scl, or at the rate of about £2 10s per ton. On protesting against the charge, which was about three times what I had expected to pay, I was informed that vetches were not included in the list of seed, and were therefore charged under class —Surely the railway authorities ought to pay more attention to classification, or give their station-maters such discretionary power to make allowance for such obvious errors. I am, Ac. T. W. Ngaruawahia, April 17, 18S2.
