THE CONSTABULARY AND THE ROTORUA ROAD.
The body of Armed Constabulary lately arrived in Cambridge from Tnranaki proceeded to the Rotorna road, under Captains Gascoigne and Capel, yesterday morning. The" meu paraded in the barrack yard at about a quarter to eight, and were addressed by Colonel Lyon. He informed them of the nature of the work to which they were about to proceed, and the sort of life they might expect to lead, the camp being situated a considerable distance from any township. He hoped they would set to work with cheerfulness, and perform their duties like men. Three cheers were then heartily given by the men for the colonel, who, in acknowledging the compliment, aaid lie wished it distinctly understood that he entirely disapproved of the men cheering their officers, and had always set his face against such a proceeding, especially in companies &uch as the one he was addressing. He would, however, thank them for their high compliment. The men marched out of the town shortly after eight o'clock, singing a few of their favorite songs.
