HANDICAP PIGEON MATCH.

The pigeon match, as advertised, came off yesterday afternoon on Coates Mat, Hamilton East. Nine competitors came forward to take part in the proceedings, and they all fired through to the end. Messrs Gvvynne anct Sandes made the handicap, and as all accepted, they evidently gave satisfaction. The birds at first seemed too quiet, but towards the end they flew better, and the consequence was more misses until the last round, which showed the biggest score of all. A glance below will show the scores as follows : First round, 13; second, 11; third, 10 ; fourth, 9 ; fifth, 8 ; sixth, i) ; and seventh, 15. The following are the scores :: — ■

There were three prizes, viz. : 60 per per cent., 30 per cent., and 10 per cent, of the sweepstakes ; aud after the match a settlement took place at the Royal Hotel.
