PUBLIC MEETING AT TE AWAMUTU.
A correspondent forwards the following account of a meeting held at Te Awamutu, on Saturday, for the purpose of sleeting auditors and fence-viewers, and considering the best means of utilising the bush reserves of the district. — As to the bushes, the general opinion was that they should be utilised as early as possible, aa there was great danger from tire. A vote of censure on the trustees of the reserves (Messrs Walton, Oorboy, Johns, Whitfield and Bond), proposed by Mr Sloane, the convenor of the meeting, was lost, and a vote of thanks awarded instead. — Messrs Walton and J. Bridgman were elected auditors of the road board accoun ts, and Messrs Bell and W. Bond fence-viewers. — The severance of the Ohaupo portion of the district for the purpose of adding to the Pukekura District as shown on a plan produced, was left with the district board. — A proposal to elect permanent trustees of the public and volunteer hall was left to a future meeting to be called for the purpose. — This concluded the business of a somewhat lively meeting. — Mr Gresham was in the chair.
