ACCIDENT AT KOPUA.
Our Alexandra correspondent writes :— A serious and painful accident happened to a young man na^med John Powell on Monday afternoon. .Powell, who has for some time past been residing at Kopua with Mr Robert Banks, was thrown while backing a young horse, breaking his leg and getting a severe kicking from the animal while on Jhe'igrQiind. The bones of his leg are reporte^to be protruding through the skin;:v;Mi|Banks proceeded to Te Awamutu for Dr. Blunden. The doctor hearing the severe nature of the injuries that had/been sustained, f/ ordered the patient's removal' to Alexandra, where proper appliances would more likely be procured. Mr. Banks, who ''had some difficulty in riding down in consequence of the fresh m\ the river and creeks, proceeded up this (Tuesday) morning at daylight, and is expected back with the sufferer in the course of to-day.
[Since writing the above, our corres» pondent further reports Powell's arrival in Alexandra. Dr. Blunden, by whom the injuries have been attended to, reports the injuries to consist r of, a compound fraction of- the le^,» besides other severe injuries. The patient's removal to Auckland hospital, iB recommended by the medical adviser.], .
