WAIKATO HEADS.
We are indebted to a corespondent for the following information : — This usually quiet place has been exceptionally busy during the past two or three months. This is partly due to the opening up of the steamboat trade to the Manukau, and the arrival of sailing crafts from other places with cargo consigned to the river navigation company. The principal reason, however, is the number of visitors attracted hither this season for sea-bathing purposes. The range of cottages erected by Mr Marshall for the accomodation of such, have been occupied ever since the early part of November. At present they are (six in number) rather more than fully occupied by families hailing from Auckland and various parts of the Waikato. In this respect the place presents a striking contrast to the experience of previous years, when a strange face arriving in the place was all but unprecedented. It is hardly necessary to add that the permanent residents or settlers are very glad of the change thus wrought for the better. In fact they seem to have become perfectly confident that the attractions of the place for sea-bathing and general sanatorium purposes are being rapidly established in public estimation, and that the day is not very far distant when the township will regain some at least, of its long-lost bustle and importance!
