ACCIDENTS AND OFFENCES. [BY TELEGRAPH.]
Dunediit, last night. — Our correspondent wires :— Phillip Waldar, a baker, in whose place, at Queenstown, fire broke out, has beeu arrested by the police, and remanded to appear at Queenstown. The surroundings are exceedingly suspicious.' The fire broke out in a private unoccupied house belonging to Waldar. A quantity of inflamable material was. found., His wife came to Dunedin, last' week, bringing a quantity of household goods with her. Masterton.— Our correspondent wires : — A man named Ford fell off, his horse last (Tuesday) night, and was killed. He had been drinking. Ghristchubch, last night. — Our correspondent wires : — A man narred Grierson, who was accidentally thrown from an omnibus while returning from the cricket match, died this morning. Dunedin. — An Association wire reports last night : — A fire broke out in a store formerly occupied by Mr E. W. Mills, in Hunter-street. The brigade was quickly on the spot, and extinguished the conflagration before much damage was done. The origin is at present unknown.
