Otra correspondent wires, last night : — The s.s. Hero has arrived from Sydney. Mr Fantham and family, late of Waikato, left for Waitara yesterday. The Union Company are sending 'home by every English vessel large quantities of kauri gum, intended for deck planking of new boats at present building. During the past year the city valuer reports 228 new buildings erected in the city, exclusive of additions to existing buildings. Mr Gamble has received information by cable that the City of Sydney sailed from San Francisco on the 16th inst. instead of the 24th, time table date. She may be expected here on Monday, February 6th.
