ENGLISH PARLIAMENTARY. [PER CABLE.]
A Reuters telegram, dated London, 16th January 3 reports as follows :—: — On the opening of Parliament, Sir Stafford Northcote, as leader of the Opposition, will move in the House of Commons that Mr Bradlaugh be not allowed to take the customary oath, whereupon the Government will move the previous question. It is impossible to predict the issue of this initiatory battle. The new rules that will be submitted by the Government for amending the procedure'of Parliament will limit a number of discussions on bills, and refer certain bills to a. grand committee. They will further give the Speaker or a majority of the House power to close a debate.
A public meeting of the ratepayers of Rangiaohia will bo held on Saturday, nth February, to take steps re timber reserves, also to appoint auditors and fence- viewers. * Mr J. Ferguson, of Whatawhata, advertises a cow running on his farm.
