LATEST CHRISTCHURCH NEWS. [BY TELEGRAPH.]
Our correspondent wires last night : — Mr Twopenny, one of the promoters of the International Exhibition, arrived here yesterday, and has selected Cranmer Square as a site for the exhibition. The Circie, brig, from Foochow, arrived at Lyttelton. On January 3rd, during a gale, a heavy sea broke on board, carrying away the starboard quarter house, staving in the bulwarks and filling the cabin with water. The man at the wheel was knocked down and rendered almost insensible, and the boatswain named Nicholas was killed.
