Agricultural Show.
The second idea that everybod acknowledges to be an excellent one for tho district and very easily brought into working order is the projected Agricultural show, but though, as I reported before one stirring 1 member of the Te Awnmutu community has offered to shape out the scheme if a meeting be called at which a working committee could be appointed, and the names taken of all who would support the motion by promising entries for the show, and subscriptions for the prizes, the thing remains so far unshaped. Small beginnings may lead to considerable ends, and without furnishing anything 1 very startling as a show of itself, an agricultural exhibition here would at all events promote activity, and furnish a subject of general interest. If only one man will propose what everyone desires, he -will be sure of a good following, but if everybody waits for someone else to take the fiist step there is a chance that any scheme, however good, will be lo&t for want of energy or enterprise. — [September 16th.]
