THE TWO RACING CLUBS. TO THE EDITOR.

Sir, — Just a few words in answer to "A. Isaics" and '" A Member of Both Clubs." They both strenuously deny the fact that the Cambridge Jockey Club is £1200 in debt, and 1 accept their assurance as being correct. How is it that neither they nor anyone else took the trouble to inform the public that the C.J.C did not possess a grand stand when they saw in print, in connection with their races, this announcement : — •'The Cambridge Jockey Club possesses one of the prettiest racecourses in the province, and the finest grand stand out of Auckland." It was not right on their part to allow the public to be misled in that manner. However, they say that the C.J.C. pay £80 per annum for the use of the stand. This, I take it, ib 8 per cent, on £1000. Now, sir, I ask them whether in case of an amalgamation taking place, the stand a\ ould be left out of the question or not. I trow not j but I rather fancy that the £1000 value of said stand would be an item to be taken over by the amalgamated clubs. Practically, therefore, I contend that, as far as the talked-uf amalgamation is concerned, the C.J.C. have a debt or a liability, call it which you will, of £1000. Please scratch out the £200.-1 am, &c, Nemesis. August 24, 1881.
