AUCKLAND CATTLE MARKET.
Mr AifRBD JJuckland's Weekly Report.— At the H.i) market on Friday, August n, a l.irgc quantity of hay was disposed of at an advance of tully 6d per cwt. Oaten h.iy brought from 3s to 4s od , meadow, 3s to 4s 3d; straw, 14s to 25s ; and small loads of hay, igs to 20s per load. A large number of horses were yarded, consisting principally of medium draught «ock, which commanded fair competition, and good prices were obtained for useful animaN, active medium j draughts bringing from Ll5 to L3O, and a number 1 ot light harness hors.es and hacks, L 5 10s to Ll4 15s. Four useful faim mares from Mr James Scott brought from Lig to L2B each. At the Haymarket sale on Tuesday, hides, ikins. and tallow were in full supply, and last week's values obtained throughout. At the Cattle Fair held at the Drury Yards on Wednesday, there was a very numerous attendance. Above 500 head of .ill classes were yarded. Bidding was brisk throughout the sale, and all cattle yarded fjund ready buyers at a marked advance over lite markets, young cattle and well-bred cows being the classes mostly in request. At Remuera on Thursdaj, dairy 1 attic in low condition v,crt> numerous, and in better inquiry than List week, but remain at low values. Choice bred dair> cattle obtain full prices. Store cattle were in usual number, and obtained the improved prices given at Diury. F.it cattle were in full number. it>B head sold to the tiade. There w.is an ad\ance obtained on List week's prices, best quality ranging from 27s to 30s the loolbs., but there was no improvement on second class quality. .Sheep were largely m excess of requirements, and prices lower than List week— 33 to 4s each. Longwoolled ewes at lambing brought 14s 6d eat h. Messrs. Hovii.r 8c Noi. vv's Weekly Report.— Horses . Dulncss has characterised the market. Hut low good animals have been brought forward, but generally the demand has been satisfied. Scarcely an average number were submitted bv auction at the Durham Yards on Friday ; competition was steady, and nearly all in wefe disposed of, prices in many instances, exceeding the expci tJtions of vendors, but there was no noteworthy alteration in values. Cattle : There has been considerable interruption in the supply, whit h was c onsequently not so large as expected ; the result of the Newmarket sale, on l-ndav., being a considerable advance. All descriptions were yarded in sufficient numbers for requirements. Hairy rows and store stock maintained their value, and for hit beasts an advanced price was given, 30s per loolhs. for top sorts being freely obtained. Sheep were brought forvvard 111 quantit), and as there was previously a fair stock in hand, coupled with the articipation of arrivals, prices receded, as 1 result, to 2s per Blbs. Pigs were yarded in moderate number, the demand was steady at from 2^d to 3d per lb., live weight. «
