Annual Meeting.

The annual meeting of ratepayers of the Pukekura Highway District, was held at the Pukerimu School-room, on Friday, Bth July ; about 20 ratepayers being present. The chairman of outgoing Trustee?, read the advertisement calling the meeting, aud rcquebted the ratepayers to elect a chairman. It was proposed, Beconded, and carried, that Mr H. Buttle be chairman. The following were proposed as Trustees for 1881-82 :— Messrs Edward Lake, John Grice, William Scott, Robert Fisher, and Edward Allen, Junr. The Chaiiman declared thebe duly elected Trustees for the Pukekura Highway Board for the year. Proponed by Mr John Fisher, seconded by Mr.E. B. Walker, "That Mr Samuel Fleming and Mr Francis Hicks bo the Auditors." — Carried. Proposed by Mr E. Lake, seconded by Mr Reynolds, " That Mr William Tucker be Fence-viewer."— Carried. Proposed by Mr Buttle, seconded by Mr Hughes, " That Mr Kusabs, be Fencevie wer. " — Carried. The Chairman enquired if anything had been done in altering the Western boundary of district. Circular read from Colonial Secretary, re correspondence of game. Proposed by Mr Walker, seconded by Mr R. Reynolds, " That the incoming Board, be requested to enter into negotiation at an early dato with the Rangiawhia and Mangapiko Boards, to bring about an alteration in the boundaries of the district. Letter read from Chairman of Cambridge North Township Highway Board re assistance in raising bridge and repairing road between bridges, after considerable discussion, it was unanimously resolved not to spend the ratepayers' money, out of district, they having made their own road good to the bridge. Proposed by Mr John Fisher, seconded by Mr E. Lake, "That the rate for the year be 8d in the £. — Carried. A cordial vote of thanks to the outgoing Trustees and also to the Chairman, concluded the annual meeting 1 . _.. __ _

Allen, " That the Trustees of the Pukekura Highway Board meet on Monday, the Ist of August, 1881, at 4 30 p.m. at the Pukorimu School-room, for the purpose of striking a rate of 8d in the £ on all rateable properties in the Pukekura Highway District for the period, from Ist April, 1881, till 31st Maroh, 1882 ; and | that the said rate will be due and payable in one instalment on the Ist of September 1881, to the Collector at his residence, i where the Rate-book may be seen. Resolved, that eaoh member of the Board have a discretionary power to expend a sum of money not exceeding £5 on any works that may bo necessary, without calling meeting of Trustees, Reßolved that Messrs. Lake and Scott see after the roads from west end of Walker's gully. Mr J. Grice swamp road ; Messrs. Fisher and Allen, the other portions of the road. Chairman to write to Mangapiko and Rangiahia Boards, to appoint a day to meet Trubtees of the Pukekura Highway Board, to bring an amicable arrangement in the alteration of boundaries of districts. .Resolved that Chairman be authorised to sign cheques on works passed in interval of meetings.
