Further Judicial Eccentricity. Edgar v. Montrose. [BY EIECTRIC TELEGRAPH, OWN CORRESPONDENT.] Cambridge, Last Night.

The case Edgar v. Montrose was heard to-day, before Mr Northcroft, R.M. The evidence of Mr Montrose was taken, after which Mr Macgregor Hay addressed the Court at some length on behalf of Montrose, and Mr Beale on behalf of Edgar. The case occupied the whole day. His Worship in giving judgment ignored the evidence of Messrs Smith, Carrick, and Edgar, and said that he took no cognizance of their evidence whatever; Mr Montrose, he said, had sworn positively that he made an offer of £1 a-week to Edgar on his arrival in Cambridge, which he believed he accepted, though he denied it. He would go by the evidence of defendant's witness (Mr Joseph Ivesa) and that of Montrose, and give judgment for the amount paid into Court, with costs for defendant. He would not allow costs to either Mr Smith or Mr Carrick, nor travelling expenses to these witnesses.
