The Hikurangi Native Meeting. [BY ELECTRIC TELEGRAPH, OWN CORRESPONDENT.] Alexandra, Last Night.
The Hikurangi meeting concluded yesterday, with the following results. All the tribes present have now acknowledged Tawhiao as "king," which has not been done before, and they have handed over, those that possessed any, their lands to his 1 entire control. All Government monies in the shape of pensions to assessors, are no longer to be received by the present recipiants. Those in receipt of rent for leased land, are no longer to receive them. They are to go to Tawhiao. Tawhiao will be supported by Wahanui and ministers of religion, and Te Wheoro who with allWaikatoare now to be known as Hauhaus. Te Wheoro is to support kinur in the interest of a representative for him in the House of Representatives. Subscriptions to be made for building flour mills, and if practicable, clothing factory foy tliem to live in a less commumistic manner,, each is to have his own farm to grow grass same as Europeans ; to have a press if possible of their own ; if not ' to have recognized reporters in their own interests in the Auckland papers. Three other schemes to be considered by Tawhiao which will be made to be borne by him to New Zealand generally , he having supreme crntrol over native affairs.
