PUKEKURA HIGHWAY BOARD.

A meeting of the Trustees was held at the Pukerimu School-room on Wednesday 9th February. Present : Messrs R. Reynolds (Chairman), Walker, Sturges, and Hughes. The minutes of previous meeting read and confirmed. A letter was read from Messrs (irice and Parker, declining to defray the cost of draining water off the Swamp road. Also letter requesting permission to erect a swing gate on the Swamp Road. A letter was read from Messrs Nell and Hall, requesting that about 12 chains of road through their property, be drained and formed as said portion wag nearly impassable in winter A letter received from Hamilton Highway Board, declining to give any more than £50, towards erecting a bridge, and making cuttings to same at Mystery Creek, As the work to be done, would cost from £150 to £170, the members expressed their willingness to contribute half of the cost, and aa it would benefit the Hamilton district as much as theirs, it was argued that an equal share ought to be borne by each district. The letter was received. A request was received for forming Putney Road, which was granted. Mr Walker was empowered to employ a man on day wages to remove the dirt thrown from the deep drain, and to widen the Swamp Road in parts with the same. Resolved, that Messrs Grice and Parker be allowed to erect a swing-gate for six months on the Swamp Road, the said gate ta be without any fastening, and legibly painted white, so as to be easily seen at night. Resolved, that half of the dog-tax collected for the year 1880-1881 be refunded, on account of the new tax being levied io the middle of the Board year. Resolved, that the Secretary order twenty 20-inch pipes for the creek at Cowley's, also 200 drain pipes. Mr Hughes agreed to cart the same from the Ohaupo Station free of charge. • Mr Stnrges was empowered to > get the bridges at MeNiccol and "yValker'a Gully repaired at' once. Resolred, that a reward of £1 be given for information that will lead to the con,yictibn of any person writing or defacing notices on advertising boards, or other* wjse injuring the property of the Fnkdr kura Highway Board, ' The Board tfoeu rose.
