A FOOLISH SCARE.
The inhabitants of Hamilton East were thrown into a state of the utmost excitement on Saturday morning, b}' a fooli.sh report spread abroad by a. little girl to the effect that two little boys had been taken into the bush by a Maori for the purpose of murdering them. A large number of people turned out on horseback aud on foot accompanied by two constables for the purpose of searching for the two boys, who, indeed wove not in their u^ual haunt. A short search however, discovered the urchins planting potatoes for Mr Ellison, aadthe party returned. A uumber of other absurd rumors have got about regarding 1 children having been chased disfigured and in some cases murdered, io. the neighbourhood, all of winch may be traced perhaps to the atrocities lately committed by the Fijian Joe in Auckland; qonsid.ois able uneuainess has also been caused by the appearance of a large poster, patted up on both sides of the river at Hamilton bearing the mysterious sentence " Your Life's in linger."
