NGARUAWAHIA.
Sudden Death. A very sad instance of sudden death took place here on Friday evening. A daughter of Mr Starr, an old and respected resident of li years, had been apparently quite well all day, and during the afternoon had been around the township collecting subscriptions for planting the cemetery. She went home about 6 o'clock, had her tea as usual and played on the concertina, when she was taken suddenly ill, and died in a few moments. The girl had been suffering from worms for some months back, and had been attended by Dr Sandes. Dr Beale gave the necessary certificate for burial, to the relief of her parents and friends, who feared that an inquest "Would be necessary. The funeral took place yesterday at the Ngaruawahia cemetery, Havelock Hill, at 4 o'clock, and was largely attended, a goodly number of children being present. Before the Benediction was pronounced, the hymn 402 H.A. and M, "Tender Shepherd" was sang. The Rev. William Calder read the service.
