HAMILTON HIGHWAY BOARD.

The above Board held their regular monthly meeting on Saturday last. The only business of public interest was the deciding upon what works should be entered upon at the present time. The engineer, Mr. BreakeU,. being in attendance, reported upon the various matters referred to him as arranged at last meating. The Board then decided that tenders should be called for two contracts for formation on the Whatawhata Road from the Ngaruawahia Road to Hand's corner ; also for two contracts on the Ohaupo Road — one from Rothwell'a corner to Rogers' gate, and from Kxrse's fence to Raynes. The improvements required on the road from the Narrows Bridge to the Racecourse were decided to be postponed until the other contracts had been finished. The Chairman was, however, authorised to employ labour to make a small cutting on the main road near the Racecourse. It was decided to apply to Mr. T. Aitken to grant permission to take a new road through his property past Mr. Ridlerson to Colonel de Quincey's exchanging lands, and purchasing balance if more were taken than at present exists in the old road. Several accounts to contractors on the Whatawhata Hamilton Road were passed for payment, the engineer reporting that the No. 1 contract had not been carried out in a satisfactory manner, and that with a continuance of fine weather, No. 3 contract would be finished in a fortnight.
