TE AWAMUTU. Waikato Cavalry (Te Awamutu Contingent).
The following are the scores made at the competition of the Te Awamutu Troop for prizes. From the totals made it is apparent that the Troop here do ndt mean to let either Hamilton or Cambridge take away the laurels on the 11th.
Average per man, 46 l-9th. Some of our very good shots were not punctual at the range, and were consequently excluded from the competition. The following 1 are the names of those who will on Saturday, the 11th, do their best at the butts for the credit of Te Awamutu: — Lieut. R. Bruce, Sub-Lieut. Wilkinson, Corporal Macfarlane (Champion Belt), Trooper Munro, Trooper Graham ; emergency, Captain Rutherford. "We mean to give the rival troops of Cambridge and Hamilton a hearty welcome on Friday. There will be a quadrille party in the Public Hall on Friday evening. The nature of the entertainment on Saturday evening I am not now at liberty to divulge. Perhaps fireworks ; possibly bonfires, and oxen roasted whole ; but on this occasion I must not mislead. If our visitors stay over Sunday morning they will be able to avail themselves of the immense treat of attending the service of our esteemed " lay-readers of S. John's." — [Own Correspondent.]
