HAMILTON CRICKETERS.
A meeting -of-tHe' Hamilton cricketers was held at the Royal Hotel on Saturday, last. The captain, Mr James Wood, occupied the chair. There was not a very large number present, we regret to say, and are suprised that the many young and athlete men of this township do not bestir themselves and go in for one of England's greatest and manliest games — cricket. . . The treasurer, Mr W. Steele, read a statement of the accounts, which shows the Club iv a very flourishing condition. The principal business done was that of electing a committea, consisting of Messrs Field, Tonks, Steele, W. F. Hunt, and C. C. Wood, for the purpose of superintending the work of turfing, and fencing with a movable wire fence a space in the middle of Sydney Square, of about 30 yards by 20. As this will necessitate a rather heavy expenditure we hope that a few, more of our yonng men will come forward and join the Olub, thereby strengthening it in a pecuniary point of view as well as in members.
