CAMBRIDGE TOWN BOARD.
A special meeting of the Cambridge North Township Highway Board was held on Tuesday last, at S o'clock, in the Town Board Office. Present : — Messrs J. P. Campbell (chairman), Wells, Johnston, and Pearson. The minutes ot the previous meeting being confirmed, the business of accepting tenders for fcuifaceman and engiueer for the ensuing year was then proceeded with. It was proposed by Mr Johnston, and seconded by Mr Wells—" That the surfaceman be engaged for four months only, commencing fiom Ist August." — Carried. Seven applications was received for surfaceman, and on the proposition of Mr Wells, seconded by Mr Campbell — " George Hamblyn's tender was accepted." It was proposed by Mr Pearson, and seconded by Mi' Johnston — "That Mr Hoskiug's tender for the oifice of engineer be accepted." — Carried. Letters weie read from several householders in reference to footpaths, when it was proposed by \fr Wells, and seconded by Mr Pearson — "That where propertyholders form footpaths in accordance to the rules of the Board and to the satisfaction of the Engineer, the Board gravel the same." — Carried. Resolved — "That Constable Brennan 1)0 appointed collector under the Dog Tax Act, and that the .same be advertised in the Waik vtu Ti>ie>,. A letter Avas received from Mr "Wells, Chairman of Domain Board, requesting the use of Town Board Office for holding their meetings. The request was unanimously complied ■with. The Chairman and Messrs "Wells and Kiikwood "were appointed a sub-com-mi tee to make arrangements "ttith Mr Keesing and adjoining property-holders regarding their footpaths. It was also resolved — "That Messrs Pearson and Johnston be appointed to interview propel t) -holders in Victoiiasbreot ie planting trees." Proposed by Mr "Wells, and seconded by Mr Pearson — " That this Board ic!(|ue^,t the membeis for Waikato, Waij>a, and Thames to use every possible cilxnt to get the Town Districts Bill made law this ses-ion; and that the Chairman telegraph this resolution to the members.!' It \\ as considered necessary, in consequence of the Domain Boaul not having reccned the authority for the leasing of Town belt at an earlier period, that the depasturing of cattle be extended another twelve months. Tenders for ranger will therefore be called for. The ranger to find the usual security of £20. The Board then rose.
