CAMBRIDGE NORTH TOWNSHIP HIGHWAY DISTRICT. Adjourned Meeting.
The adjourned meeting of ratepayers of the Cambridge North Township Highway District, called by advertisement, was held at the Town Board Offices, on Saturday last, at 4 p.m. Mr W. Reid rpsumed his seat in the chair and called on the >Secretaiy to read the minutes of last meeting, which - were duly confirmed. It will be leraetnbered ton geutletnen were nominated — Messrs H. M. Pearson J. Arnold, James Johnston, A. Rriynes, Thomas Wells, W. Reid, R. Wright, R. Kirkwood, J. P. Campbell, and W. L. C. Williams — five of whom were to be elected as trustees, and the business of election was then proceeded with. Messrs Henry and Kioh'irdson were appoiuted scrutineers. The voting continued up to halfpa.st six o'clock, the Town Board Offices being regularly be&eiged the whole afternoon. At the declaration of the poll it was found that Messrs Peaison, Wells, Johnhton, Cimpbell, and Kirk wood were elected, which was received with a hearty respon&e. Messrs Brooks and Haughton were voted auditors, and Messrs Hensran and P. Thompson fence-viewers for the ensuing year. Some depute arose as to the legality of some of the proxies and an interchange of a variety of little pleasantries which might have emanated from a friendly feeling or might not, but the Chairman overruled, and very justly remarked at the bad taste to question the business of the scrutineers, and declaimed the five said gentlemen as duly elected. Alter a vote of thanks to the Chairman and scrutineers the meeting separated.
