MOBE WASTE OF TIME. There was a great scene in .the House tonight, f \4 Mr Hall moved that Mr Hurst take the chair in the absence of Mr Seymour. The Opposition made a great row. Amendment followed amendment, .and division followed division until members got so excited that thej nearly came to blows. McLean and Downie Stewart exchanged compliments, and were repeatedly called to order Downie said he could " a horrible tail unfold" about McLean, and said McLean said Dowine packed 50 friends into a room, and had stolen, a vote of confidence from constituents. After a great scene Stewart just sat on his own friends by moving previous question and a division was taken, giving the Government a majority of only four Eventually Hurst gracefully withdrew, and Mr Seymour undertook the business in both Houses.

THE BIBLE IN THE SCHOOLS. The question of reading the Bible in schools was discussed this afternoon. In the Upper House it was negatived, but in the Lower House, no division was come to. > *%
