The Attack Renewed.
The police after this kept up a constant five on the place — Dwycv and Armstrong in front of the house, Andrew Clark, sen., and Constable Kelly getting very close in. At the various quaiterb ot attack it was noticed that the fire from the besieged bushrangers was not returned after 1 o'clock, but it was believed Dan Kelly and Hart intended to be quiet until night, and, under cover of the darkness, make their escape. The police for some time also ceased. The police eventually telegraphed for a cannon from Melbourne, but fearing it would not arrive in time to be of any use it was determined to adopt another mode of dislodging the remaining outlaws.
