MR McGARRIGLE ON FINANCE.
TO THE EDITOR. Sir, — The burgesses allow that Mi' McGar rifle's actions siuce he laas been a Councillor deserve their respect for the motive th;it induced him to enter the Council, ho appears to have kept well before him, " That of seeing ret' enchment carried out in the Borough expenditure." In your Saturday's issue, ho touches upon finance, and his arguments are very good, no doubt, but I cannot exactly follow him. If he will - indly state what he understands by a Bank's current rates, it will enable outsiders to judge of the two tenders referred to in his letter. I can underhand the one as being an exceptional offer, and apparently in favour of the Boiough. Will Mr MoGarrigle bo good enough to state whnt the cm rod )Y/t6'is? The buruus-es then, as well as the Council, will be able to judge where the retrenchment comes in. — I am, &c. t Burgees.
