THE LATE RACING ACCIDENT.
TO THE EDITOR. Sm, "Through your valuable journal 1 beg most sincerely to thank those people who came forward and gave thoir kind aid and assistance in endeavoring to alleviate the misfortune which befell H. Hall on the Piako racecourse. To show the promptitude in which the case "was dealt with, I may say Mr Turiibull piloted him through, and handed him over to Dr Waddington in the short space of three hours, including stoppages to see to the boy's comfort, as also having night time for the journey. Dr. Waddington pronounced the thigh to be broken. lam glad to say the lad is doing well. sto the cause of the accident, it has been rumored that the rider of Orakau, Mr Wilkinson, was pressing on Emu, so that it caused the latter to run off the course ; but on behalf of that gentleman I beg to saj the boy's statement is to the effect that he had plenty of room, and that what caused Emu to run off was owing to his pulling Emu round at the same place, at a false start previous. — Yours, &c., B. Garland.
