THE PLEURO SCARE.
TO THE EDITOR. Sir, — Most correspondents agree that the pleuro is for certain among our herds of cattle, Lrought presumedly, by some of Mr Payne's imported ones. For my part, I am not going to say it is, or is not here, or if it died a natural death when it was here before ; but I would suggebt for the purpose of giving a feeling of security to owners of cattle, that tho&e large cattle holders should set the example of innoc ulatiou at once. It's of no use sitting down and groaning over a misfortune, and allow this cuseabe to spread likej wildfire right through the country. Why I suggest the large holder^, is that they are likely to be the largest lobers in the event of its spreading. The cattle of Waikato being our chief staple produce, the disease should be met by promptitude — I am, &c. , A Vjt-RY Small Settlek. Ohaupo, March, 18th.
