CAMBRIDGE BRANCH RAILWAY.
The work of surveying this line has now been completed, and Mr G-wynneth is at present engaged taking more accurate levels on several portions of the route. Since the first estimate of the coat was made one or two diversions have been effected which will lessen the total length of the line considerably as well a 9 its cost. It has also been found practicable to make an alteration in several of the gradients, whereby, while the easy working of the railway will not be impaired, much expense will be saved. It is proposed 10 carry the line over the river at the narrows, on a bridge crossing the present structure diagonally, at a much greater altitude, continuing the route along the terrace at the tear of Mr Hunt's house, and almost parallel with the road until the high ground is reached.
